U16 and U14 Hurling Success

SMGS had a great win in difficult conditions in the U16 Cork Hurling competition against near neighbours, Coachford, on a score line of 5-7 to 1-8.

From goalkeeper to corner forward, SMGS worked and battled the minute the referee threw in the ball. With tenacious defending against a strong wind, the teams came off at half time level. Some young future stars made a massive impact from the bench when players began to tire and drove SMGS on to a spirited win. Well done to all players.

Meanwhile in a second game, SMGS U14 Hurling competed in the U14 Cork Colleges B hurling with a scoreline - SMGS 4-14 Douglas CS 3-15. Well done to the lads who 2 points to spare in an exciting debut game for their school.  An all the more excellent win having been 8 points (1-11 to 0-6) down at half time!
