Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál Official Opening - 10th May 2024

It was a fantastic privilege to finally open our new school campus in a bright, sunny day last Friday. Bishop William Crean turned the sod on the site almost three years ago to the day and it was an honour to welcome the Bishop back to officially open and bless the school.

We were blessed to have so many distinguished guests, members of the design team, past pupils and members of the community to join us on what was a great celebratory occasion. It was a proud moment to see all the current staff members who attended SMGS over the decades cut the ribbon with Mr. Sheehan who has not only a past pupil of the school but has been a teacher, deputy principal and principal. The fabulous new facility to the Blarney and the surrounding community is a direct result of his leadership and drive. He worked tirelessly over the last number of years to ensure this lasting legacy would be achieved.

Many thanks to all our students on the day especially those who helped set up, organised the balloon displays, participated in the parade, cared for and guided our guests, represented the student council and played such beautiful music on the day.

It will be an occasion that will remember for a long time to come!
